Latest Updates from Our Project:

An Exciting Package, a Small Delay, and Hiring Opportunities
almost 5 years ago – Fri, May 31, 2019 at 09:28:23 PM

Hi everyone,

Last week, just as our office was flooded with Root: Underworld testers, we got an exciting package from our manufacturer: the final proofs of Vast: TMM!

Cole, Nick, and Patrick with the production proofs.

Normally we would have gotten proofs earlier in the process, but Marshall, our wonderful production manager, wanted to make absolutely sure that all of the punch board sheets had dried perfectly and that the final thing was spectacular. Well, I'm happy to say that it didn't disappoint. The game looks great.

A small portion of the game contents.

As you might guess, we had to expand the box past our usual form factor simply because we ended up putting so much content in it. And, I'm happy to report that with a little cleverness, it's not hard to put all of the expansion material (which you are getting for free) in TMM's box. The combined box will be quite heavy—there's a lot of game in there!

The rulebook may have gotten slimmer, but the box's thickness has made up the difference.

Though we all wanted to jump right into a game, we first had to go through and check each and every component to make sure it was measuring up. During this process we noticed a couple small production errors. Most of these were small enough that they didn't require action, however, there was a problem with the way the mounted board was printed that would probably lead to a lot of player frustration. After some discussion, Patrick made the call to reprint the game boards. This will add about a month on to our timeline which currently has us shipping the game to you all in late July or early August. One silver lining is that this time gave us cover to fix the smaller issues as well.

In short, the project is going to be a few weeks late. We're disappointed by this as it may mean we miss Gen Con, but we'd rather give you all something excellent.

Going forward, we're going to switch to a schedule of twice-monthly updates until the project is delivered and devote some extra time to making sure you all know exactly where the project is. The status right now is pretty simple: we're printing new game boards and they should be done in a few weeks. After that the games will go into final assembly and then onto the boat.

For your next TMM update, we'll be live streaming a game using the production copy next Friday at 1PM (CST), and we'll also update you all about where to find us at Origins.  We'll certainly have our production proofs at the booth, so you can come by and play a game and spin these sweet dials!

Finally, I'm happy to say that we're expanding our team here in Saint Paul! If you're interested in working in the games industry, and either live in the Twin Cities or would be willing to relocate, I'd encourage you to apply to one of our positions. More details can be found on our website.

That's it for now. As always, if you have any specific questions, please contact [email protected]. Otherwise, have a wonderful Friday, and hopefully we'll see some of you next week for the stream of TMM!

Production Update
about 5 years ago – Wed, May 01, 2019 at 12:14:49 AM

Hello Everyone,

We wanted to update you on the status of Vast: The Mysterious Manor production and timelines currently. We are still on track to wrap up the entire production process during the month of May. The production of the miniatures and most of the core components is complete, we are currently waiting on the final production proof and once it is approved we expect assembly to be a 1-2 week turnaround. At that point everything is sent to our various fulfillment partners worldwide.

This means you should begin receiving copies starting in June and the retail release will be later in the summer, with GenCon being the first retail show. We took an early copy of Vast: TMM to PAX East in Boston and folks seemed to respond incredibly well after getting to spend time playing and checking out the miniatures. We are extremely excited to be in the final stage of production and look forward to each of you receiving your games. Thanks again and we will be sure to share pictures of the production proof shortly after its arrival. Have a wonderful week!

Thanks!

Final Hours of Root: The Underworld Expansion
about 5 years ago – Wed, Apr 03, 2019 at 12:01:51 AM

Hi everyone,

First, it was a pleasure to meet many of you over the weekend at PAX East. Our one copy of Vast: The Mysterious Manor saw a fair bit of play in the First Look area and it was a blast showing off the design. I'm happy to report that Vast: TMM's production continues apace and we'll have a more detailed update within the next few weeks. Rest assured that there haven't been any significant delays so far. I cannot wait for you to all see the final game!

Today, we wanted to let you all know that we've entered the final hours of the Root: Underworld Kickstarter. If you're interested in the expansion and haven't had a chance to look over the page, I'd encourage you to check it out here. As usual, we're offering lots of freebies for backers!

Jan 31st Backerkit Chargedate Reminder
over 5 years ago – Wed, Jan 30, 2019 at 01:44:49 AM

Please note: You can disregard this update if your pledge was already collected during the Kickstarter campaign and if you didn't add any extra add-ons to your pledge.

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to send a reminder that we will be charging your Backerkit surveys on January 31st. If you were a late backer and didn't participate in the Kickstarter, or if you added extra items beyond your pledge value, such as extra copies, or the wooden meeples, your surveys will be locked and charged on the 31st.

After this date, you will still have the ability to edit your shipping addresses (we will make another update on a final call for address finalization closer to delivery). However, after surveys lock, you will be unable to add anything new to your pledges without emailing us to accommodate any new requests.

Questions?

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to email us at [email protected]. Please do not use the Kickstarter messaging system since messages are harder to track.

Thanks!
